Maria do Sol is from Rio de Janeiro and studied Fine Arts at the Federal University of Bahia - UFBA - and has being doing research of her own since then. Before that, from a young age, she always painted regularly, as art has always been her favorite means of expression and a gift.

After leaving college, she lived on a farm in the state of Goiás for 10 years, painting without many external influences, seeking to experience an immersion in her own personal expression. During this period, she researched different organic materials, developed theses on creativity, delivered courses and painted in bottle gourds for several years.

Also during this period, she developed a social art project, taking her knowledge of fibers, natural materials and painting to the local population with the aim of generating and diversifying income opportunities, self-esteem and research. This project led to workshops, courses, mini-courses and social projects throughout the state.

She taught art at the Pirilampo School (Waldorf Pedagogy) to children and delivered courses on “Drawing with the Side Right of the Brain”.
Her works have been shown in one the best art galleries of Brasília, Galeria Visual, at the Casa Park shopping mall. She held individual exhibitions at the Municipal Theater of Pirenópolis and took part in 3 collective exhibitions. Her work has also been mentioned in magazines and displayed in different countries!

For a few years she stopped working at the same pace and focused her creativity on something that she believes is the greatest work of art of every human being: children! She had four beautiful daughters and devoted all her energies, with a lot of love, to rearing her family, as well as to her marriage and personal growth.

An important detail that deserves special mention is that she lost her two feet and overcame this difference. Today, apart from taking care of a beautiful family, she paints and writes every day.

Her husband specializes in reforestation activities and keeps an arboretum of native species of the cerrado (savannah) region of Brazil (www.plantaquecresce.com.br).
In buying paintings by Maria do Sol, you will also be contributing to having native seedlings planted in degraded areas, since part of this money is used for this purpose.
